For those of you on the fence of this new version, it's most likely due to the track record of the old models overheating. Now, instead of dying, the new xbox's basically have a self preservation mode. A red dot will appear and tell you the console needs to shut off for ventilation. And it will be ready to play again once the red light is done flashing. Some might not like that, but it's better than having your xbox die. I will post a link to an article from engadget for reference in my comments.
I hope this convinces those of you on the fence to purchase this new model. It's always been a great platform, now made better.
*Note* If you are considering selling your old wireless N adapter that you purchased for the previous xbox 360 models, wait until you actually have the new "slim" model. My router is on the other side of the house and although the new "slim" model has wireless N onboard, it doesn't have quite the range as the external wireless N adapter with the two antennas. I sold my adapter, and upon seeing the low signal with the onboard N card I had to go out and repurchase another external adapter. It's just something to be aware of and if you are located near your wifi signal it shouldn't be a problem at all. I'd just hate for anyone else to make the same mistake.
