Order Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I had an 20GB Xbox 360 Pro/Premium that I got for Christmas in 2007. It had the Falcon chip. I bought it because it was the first upgraded Xbox to be released after the buggy Zenon that had over 75% failure rate. It worked great but I moved it around too much and it eventually got the two red ring E74 error. 3 weeks and $100 later I had it back and it served me well ever since.

Last week I got word of the new Xbox that you are currently looking to purchase. It has the Valhalla chip. That chip is two generations later from my old Xbox. I decided that my Xbox, now out of warranty and starting to make funny sounds when the disc tray closed (another common problem in older Xbox's), was outdated (with only 20GB of memory) for the new and memory eating exciting things that Microsoft was going to release in the next few years. So I sold my old Xbox for $100 and went to Best Buy that same day to pick up my new Xbox 360 "Slim".

Now to the review stuff:

First reaction to pulling it out and setting it up: Wow the packaging is much better in this one, more padding in the box. Woah, this thing is light, and look how much smaller it is. Dang, I can lift this thing up with my thumb and index finger. Hey look how small the new power brick is, cool. Oh sweet, the controller is all black. Geez look at all these USB ports! Wait a second, what does the AV hook up not have component cables for HD. Weird. My old Xbox's AV cable did.

Setup: Hooked it up with the same setup my old Xbox was on. Hovered my finger over the power button and poof. Plug and play. I recovered my gamertag, transferred my licenses via [...], registered my new console, and downloaded all my old add-ons and arcade games in a snap. I just connected to my wireless network with the BUILT IN WIFI and got on Xbox Live.

Played all that night: SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO QUITE!!! Barely a whisper. Much more responsive. Things load faster. It is really really quite. It does not produce half as much heat. Did I mention that it was really quite. Seriously.

As someone who switched from a regular, older Xbox to this one to another: Do It. Microsoft has been unleashing so much this past year, this will only be more and more. You will need the space from the 250GB hard drive. Especially if you save a lot of games, music, or videos. You need the space. My friend has a 120GB Elite that he has already filled up.

To someone who is buying their first Xbox: If you waited this long to get an Xbox you probably don't need all the bells and whistles. Just go buy a used one and get a 60GB hard drive. It will be plenty for what you are using it for. This thing is built for moderate to hardcore gamers who need space, speed, and reliability.

In conclusion, upgrade to this Xbox from an older one. Don't buy it as a first timer.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Buying Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I've just been on the phone with X-Box support for more than an hour, in an attempt to resolve a pair of outstanding issues with my X-Box 360. The first was that after a successful licence, my DLC was still not functional without a connection to live. I was told this issue would take up to a week to correct and to be completely honest, I don't care about that.

What I DO care about, is my console's hardware issues. This console is a refurbished console, as one would expect my first had a lovely red ring of death at the beginning of the year and took two weeks to be replaced. I was unhappy, but not adamantly so. The console they sent me as a replacement, however, has a much greater outstanding issue. The disc drive has taken to scratching my discs and locking up the console with startling regularity. My first email to X-Box Support, on March 19. I received a reply on March 20, asking me to answer a series of questions about the issues. I did, and sent a reply on March 22. I was then sent a reply on March 23, suggesting that I restart the console, make sure that it is well ventilated, and that I clear the cache. I'm not an expert, but when discs are being scratched and the disc drive is making unhealthy noises, I am normally led to believe that is a hardware difficulty that cannot be resolved through the means suggested in the reply of March 23.

As the date neared my refurbished warranty's expiration date of 4/19/2010, I called X-Box support directly on April 14 and requested an immediate repair order. Due to the destructive nature of the fault and the fact that my console's warranty was quite near expiration, I asked that the label be shipped to me post-haste. I have not received any shipping label, and my console's repair request has subsequently been cancelled. If I'd like the issue that I reported more than a month into my warranty fixed, I must now pay them one hundred dollars.

I'm not sure about anyone else, though from what I've read and personally experienced, this is about the level of customer service one can expect to receive from X-Box Support. I post this as a warning to any who might be considering the purchase of an X-Box 360 in the near future, or for anyone who has yet to experience the joy of X-Box Support. You're in for a special kind of treat, when the time inevitably comes.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Cheap Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I have always wanted to get an Xbox because of the console-specific games that they offer. I never took the plunge because the idea of paying $75 to $100 for a wireless network adapter was absurd to me. A third of what the system costs? My equipment is setup so that my router is on the other side of my room and I don't want to run a cable around so it will be wired, and I'm not paying a third more to get an adapter. So, I see where there is a new console with a 250 Gb harddrive, quieter, more energy-efficient, better looking and has a built in wireless adapter. What else could I ask for? It doesn't have to have blu-ray because my PS3 does. I could care less about Kinect because I have a Wii. It doesn't have to be bundled with games because I can purchase 2 or 3 with the money I am saving from not having to buy an adapter. I received it today, had it connected to my wireless G router in under 5 minutes and was creating my XBL account. I have not played a game yet but I know I will enjoy it because this system was created to play games and nothing else. I will edit this review later if I need to for any reason but I am starting with 5 stars because this system is perfect for me.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Save Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I have owned an arcade model which got the RROD, then i purchased a 120gb elite. So far this is the best xbox 360 i have owned by far. The built in wireless n is extremely fast and very easy to set up. Also, when they say "whisper quiet" they really mean it. I use a Turtle Beach X11 and i could hear my old xbox 360 even with my headset on, but with the new console i can barely hear it with my tv muted and cant hear it at all with the volume on. The 250gb hard drive is a nice addition but for me it doesnt really matter since i previously had 120gb but its nice to know i wont run out of space. The only downside i could possibly find with this console is it only comes with a composite av cable not high def, but if you use hdmi like i do this is no big problem. I am extremely happy with this purchase!

Pros:
*Built in wireless N
*Internal 250gb hard drive
*Quite smaller
*EXTREMELY quiet
*Touch sensitive buttons
*Sexy as hell

Cons:
*Only composite av cable (doesn't matter if you use HDMI)
*Glossy finish shows fingerprints (but how often do you actually touch the console while in place?)

Low Price Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

Loving my new console, I traded my old one in gamestop for this sleek new one and I must say I am happy I did. This new console runs quieter than the one I had it vents out better than the one I had. The built in Wifi is awesome even though I use an ethernet cable; its good and would help me since I have cats in the house and they love running into the cables and so does my kid which would end in disaster sooner or later. More memory space since I love installing my games to the HDD and also 5 USB ports..which was a problem with the older one since I couldn't fit my 2 plug and play chargers, 2 USB Flash Memory plus my Vision cam. Its basically the same console just upgraded a bit. There is still that disc scratching problem and Microsoft should have fixed that but who really moves a console once its where its supposed to be. This is how the console should have been built in the first place and it might not have had a bad reputation.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Decide Now

First off it is redesigned and looks awesome. It is so much smaller then my elite. It is also super quiet and I am shocked how true that part turned out to be. You can't beat the 250 gig hard drive. I am definitely really happy with my purchase. I am not sure about Kinect yet but with 2 nephews I am leaning towards picking it up and to know that this system is Kinect ready is a nice little bonus. If you are in the market for a new 360 I suggest picking this one up. Great system.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Overall this xbox 360 is amazing... it ventilates the hot air out of the xbox really well and the actual "box" does not get heated up that much... it runs very quiet even when there is a game running... i have had no problems with this xbox and i have had it for a couple of days now... and the 250 gig hard drive is extremely useful to me because i had so much stuff on my old 120 gig xbox i was down to only 10 gigs left... i recommend this to anyone who wants a xbox 360!!!!Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Order Now

Well, I have owned a few xbox 360's, first the pro-which RROD-exchanged for another, which RROD, then i decided to purchase the a newer model with a different chip-the Resident EVIL special edition, very cool red console. Which is a great console, i love it, but I wanted a 250 gb drive because i am running out and for another 100 dollars I could just get the new model, and that is what i DID! I was expecting a sleek xbox, but WOW, it is gorgeous. I have a fat ps3 and it is huge sitting next to it, the buttons are touch sensitive which is super cool, and it looks like MS fixed the RROD by having a warning/system shutdown if you have you system in a bad spot where it is not vented enough and getting hot! Very cool, so it looks like, hopefully the RROD is the thing of the past with this console! You have 5!, yes 5 usb ports!, so adding 16gb sticks, got one from costco for 25 dollars, means i will be good on memory probably till the end of the consoles life! Also, sooooo quite! Thank goodness, some games, like SFIV and fable 2 ran so LOUD on my xbox it was distracting, but i can't even hear this drive.

GOOD JOB MS. Finally, an xbox that exceeds my needs and expectations, also, Kinect ready, and i have mine pre-ordered, do you?Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Get it now!

For those of you on the fence of this new version, it's most likely due to the track record of the old models overheating. Now, instead of dying, the new xbox's basically have a self preservation mode. A red dot will appear and tell you the console needs to shut off for ventilation. And it will be ready to play again once the red light is done flashing. Some might not like that, but it's better than having your xbox die. I will post a link to an article from engadget for reference in my comments.

I hope this convinces those of you on the fence to purchase this new model. It's always been a great platform, now made better.

*Note* If you are considering selling your old wireless N adapter that you purchased for the previous xbox 360 models, wait until you actually have the new "slim" model. My router is on the other side of the house and although the new "slim" model has wireless N onboard, it doesn't have quite the range as the external wireless N adapter with the two antennas. I sold my adapter, and upon seeing the low signal with the onboard N card I had to go out and repurchase another external adapter. It's just something to be aware of and if you are located near your wifi signal it shouldn't be a problem at all. I'd just hate for anyone else to make the same mistake. Cheers.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Best Quality

With all the issues past MS hardware has had, I didn't think I could give a fair review of this product without waiting at least a year to see if any problems popped up. Then again, the latest models for the old design 360s have been much more reliable with the RROD being a non-issue unlike in previous models. This new "slim" model couldn't be any worse and if I do run into problems, there is always an edit button for this review.

Now why should you buy this updated model? Well it comes down to your individual situation and how important having the latest and greatest is to you. I personally had a 2007 20 Gig unit which had already been struck with the RROD once before. My warranty was up in a few months, my HDD was painfully limited on space, I had no HDMI port, and the unit was extremely loud. It was only a matter of time before it had to be replaced anyway, and with Gamestop having a special trade in deal (best trade in offer they have probably ever had) it made sense to upgrade, for me.

The "360 S", as it is described by MS, has immediate benefits over older models:

Looks - The system looks much better in person than it does in a 2D picture, slideshow or even video. You really have to see this thing to appreciate it's beauty. Now this is all subjective, but I think most people will agree that it looks better in person and in your entertainment center than it does in photos. The glossy piano black finish is quite attractive, though it can be a scratch and smudge magnet if you are not careful. Matte black is probably better for consoles but I'm not going to complain since it looks great. The silver/chrome trim is pure eye candy and goes well with the black finish. The curves and angles of the system are subtle and sexy making for an attractive console whether it rests vertically or horizontally. The controller is all black, unlike old elite controllers where the analog sticks were gray, and the guide button is chrome. The headset is also black, and looks very slick compared to the cheap piece of plastic packed in with previous units. MS went all out with the black here, the system is so dark in fact that it practically disappears when the lights are off, this is not a positive or a negative, just an observation.

Size - The official number is that the 360 S is 17% smaller than the preceding models. It looks even smaller than that when you finally get it home. It is easily smaller than both the original PS3 and the PS3 slim, though not as tiny and compact as the Wii. It will fit nice and snug into any entertainment center.

Function - First thing you will notice when unpacking your system for the first time are the vents. MS is not kidding with ventilation to prevent overheatng, there are two intakes, one on the top and one on the bottom, and an exit vent on the right side (when vertical, top when horizontal). Hot air is pushed out with such prejudice that I advise you not have any other devices resting to the right of the console if it is vertical and leave plenty of breathing room up top if placed horizontal. These vents work, the system stays cool and if it were to overheat there is a fail safe where the system shuts itself off and goes into "cooling mode". When in cooling mode, there will be a message on screen which explains what it is doing so you don't have a heart attack thinking you just got some more faulty MS hardware (admit it, we're all a little jumpy when it comes to MS hardware issues). I have not personally witnessed this cool down mode, I have simply read of it's existance and seen evidence. I have put in a number of marathon gaming sessions on my new 360 S and it runs cool to the touch.

Speaking of touch, the push buttons have been replaced by touch buttons. These buttons are quite sensitive, I only had to wave my finger in front of them to get a response. I didn't even touch the system and the disc tray opened, I thought the thing was sentient for a second and knew what I wanted. The power button is pretty sensitive as well and there is this satisfying chime that goes off when you activate these buttons. Now I am not sure if the sensitivity will dull over time, but they do seem a little too sensitive so keep your cats away from your system so you don't have your game ejected on you in the middle of play.

The immediate benefits with this system are the 250 Gig hard drive, built in 2.4 GHz WiFi and a portal for the upcoming Kinect. The hard drive is a huge bonus for me, now I can finally install games, rip music, download and watch videos and dive into XBLA like a fat man at a buffet. I feel so...liberated! WiFi is not a big deal to me as I prefer a hardline connection when online gaming, but it is certainly a welcome option. Some people have complained that the WiFi is not 5 GHz like the previous adapter but in all honesty, the 5GHz range is much more limited than the 2.4 and the whole reason to use WiFi, as I see it, is for the range. The built in WiFi is also claimed to be the fastest yet by MS and various gaming sites such as IGN. Then there is Kinect, which I am undecided on. I really need a price before I can make any decisions and I doubt I will be an early adopter, but if it releases more games like Child of Eden (spiritual successor to the hypnotic music shooter REZ), then I will have no problem picking up a unit for the right price. Maybe Kinect is not a day one purchase, but who wouldn't want to go all Lawnmower Man/Minority Report on their dashboard with hands free navigation and voice recognition? If these features are incorporated into games (without replacing the controller, just supplementing it) that are not shovelware, I will be interested. Not having to buy any kind of adapter for Kinect, an adapter you just know MS is going to overprice, is a welcome bonus.

Noise - The most immediate gratification you will get from the 360 S is it's whisper quiet sound. Whisper quiet is a perfectly accurate description, practically everyone who has this model uses that term as soon as they turn it on. Whisper quiet does not mean completely silent, it means that you can't hear it unless you are listening specifically for it. This means turning everything else off in the room, and this is with a disc in the tray. If the system is idle or if a game is installed, it's even quieter. It is easily quieter than the PS3 Slim and almost on par with Wii levels of silence. The noise of my old Xbox never really got to me because I play with a surround sound gaming headset (Tritton AxPros) but after hearing how quiet this system is, I can certainly understand the appeal of silence compared to what once sounded like an airplane taking off mixed in with a V-twin at full throttle.

As mentioned, I got a good deal on this new system at Gamestop. Is it worth the full 300? That depends on your situation and what you want. There are some great deals on the previous Elite models right now and if you have no interest in a hard drive (I suggest everyone get one though) then perhaps you may want to pick up an Arcade for half the price. There is also a rumored entry level 360 S to be released this fall for 100 bucks cheaper, not sure if it will have a HDD or not, it most certainly won't have built in WiFi. For anyone who has an older unit which is about to be out of warranty and has a 60 gig HDD or less, I'd say this is worth the upgrade if you truly want it. It is certainly a fine piece of hardware, the best hardware MS has ever released.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Immediately

Well, it took Microsoft almost 5 years before they got it right, but nontheless they did at least with the newest Slim console. This console is definitely quiet, I'd say its on par with the PS3 slim quietness. Its definitely smaller than the previous 360s. The black glossy finish, the chrome like on/off button and chrome trims look very nice. Some will complain that it is a fingerprint magnet, but I actually like the finished look. The controller is the same as the previous controllers, except for some reason I feel the d pad is a bit more accurate. Wi-Fi is included this time around with no attachments. The disc tray is definitely more quiet in operation while playing a game and even opening and closing wont make much of a clank noise. Touch sensitive buttons are nice. Still has a power brick but it is not compatible with the previous models. As a matter of fact, hard drives and memory cards of old will not be compatible with this new slim. If you dont have a 360, or if yours got the dredded RROD then this might be a good time to buy. It is a new fresh look for the 360 which I welcome.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console This instant

I bought an Xbox 360 when it launched back in 05, I loved it, but it broke after a few months, I then bought a Wii, but it just don't think it's up to par with what the Ps3 and Xbox 360 were doing, the Elite launched soon after, I was skeptical, I was thinking of getting a PS3, but after watching some videos I decided to purchase the Elite.
The Elite was great just lacking, no built in wifi, I really didn't like the hard drive, ( I had a hard time taking it off.) and the Red Ring..
It did, however last about two years, last April it started scratching discs when I wasn't touching it.
I had an extended warrenty, but it was over, I didn't know what to do.
Then this got released at E310, I was astonished, I picked one up as soon as possible.
Enough with the blast from the past, time for the review.

Pros:
Much nicer looking.
Touch sensitive buttons are nice.
Interior hard drive 250 GB.
Kinect ready.
Smaller/more fans.
Less likely to get RRoD.
Same price.
5 USB ports. (2 in front 3 in back)

Cons:
Fingerprint magnet.
Doesn't include any games. (Yet)
Touch Sensitive buttons are nice, but they don't give, so it might confuse some people. (Even though there's a beep)
A little late.

Verdict:
Over all, if you're looking for a 360, but have been scared about RRoD, or you didn't think it was worth it, now is a great time to buy a 360.
If you just bought the Spring Bundle Elite, you may not want to buy this just yet. If you're planning on getting Kinect you should probably get this too, you'll be able to use it on the old Xbox Fats, but with a cable, and who knows how well that's going to work..
It's the Best Xbox 360 without-a-doubt.
The glossy finish is awesome, and when I said "Fingerprint magnet," how much do you touch your Xbox anyway?
So buy it, great deal, great console, great bundle.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Shop For Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I am more than happy with my new Xbox 360. I have owned every system from Arcade-Elite Xbox 360,PS3, Wii (yuck) and have never been more pleased.

To start, this thing isn't simply quieter its freakin silent. I too was extremely annoyed with the sound of the fan especially from my Elite, it always sounded like something was broken, but during games you tune it out,but browsing the dashboard or playing quiter games with no shooting and explosions it was a real pain, Don't dare try to watch a movie with it. But Not with this new console, It was like going from a loud old car to a smooth sleak hybrid. I plugged it in and both my wife and my mouth dropped from how quiet it was. We couldnt believe it was on.

As to the finger print haters...Have you bought anything new lately? Thats what everything looks like now. Every new TV, Blu Ray player, heck even my fridge catches finger prints. Welcome to the future! If you spend the money take care of your stuff and youll be fine.

One thing I didn't know before I bought it was the new touch disk tray! I know it seems trivial, but it is really cool. I was staring at it wondering "where the heck is the open disck button on the actual console" Just before I got concerened that the only way to open it was through the dash board, i touched the disk tray and WoW it opened. Everything I have is touch now, so that blends in well.

The console is smaller, but not bite size compared to the older model. More like a small cable box (if you have comcast new hd boxes)

Wait, I cant close this review with out stressing how Extremely easy the WiFi was to configure. My router and modem is two floors up, so I normally have a hard time connecting and going through my security. I'm no engineer but over time I've tought myself how to deal with my own wireless network, so i can solve my own connection problems, and was prepared to do so when setting this up. I'm telling you my Grandma could set up your wireless network on this thing. As long as you have your ID and password it does all the other work for you, which is Genius. I was really bummed out at the thought of having to reconfigure the new xbox, but was very pleasantly suprised.

The whole set up from choosing the language, hooking up wirelessly and downloading my gamertag from Live took less than 15min and I think thats too generous of a time line.

Can't wait for Kinect! Xbox is by far the most user friendly, technically advanced and overall awesome gaming system out there. Get it, enjoy it and have fun!

By the way, I did have to transfer hard drives when the Elite came out. It was a fairly painless process. Just go to [...] and look in the support section. They'll give you step by steps. It was a while ago, but i don't remember loosing anything during the transfer.

GAME ON!Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Where To Buy Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I just upgraded my original 360 to this new one yesterday and I'm really liking it. Like the specs say, it really does run whisper quiet. I was a little disappointed in the AV cable though since it's only for Standard Definition tv setup for the price I paid on it, but I'm still happy with my system. Another difference with this console is that the warranty is only 1 year compared to the 3 year for the original 360 console which, if your warranty is still active on your current console, you probably can hold off on upgrading your system until something like the Kinect is released. I'm also excited on the 250GB hard drive, which provides more than enough space for movie, tv show, music, and video game storage.

Note: I'm sorry if any information may have been repeated, but I thought it would be a good idea to write a review for this product since I actually own it, which is more than I can say for many of these product reviews (ie. the 1 star nay-sayers).Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Order Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

After a little worry about reliability, I took the plunge Yesterday 6/18/2010. I had read horror stories about heat and DOA units. I'm proud and happy to say I had niether problem with my Shiney new 360S. From the fine styling, to the 3 extra USB ports and the much needed dedicated Optical out (that's right not funny dongle thingy). This console screams quality. I like the fact that it also has a dedicated Kinect port which means you won't need and extra outlet for Kinect when it comes out, like any older 360.

I tested the 360S all day and most of the evening so I could report with some degree of certainity that it runs as quiet, and smoothly as it does. The reported heat problems/??? I don't know, I think its overblown. It might also be people who don't even have it yet or will never have it. there are a lot of very silly people reporting some untrue things. That's all I will say. Yes it gets warm, but no warmer than any other piece of eletronics used for hours at a time. WARM not HOT big difference. Now I have to say this, I'm not placing it inside any type of cabinet or enclosed space, so maybe that makes a difference, but I think any item you would use in that way would get hotter. Now on to to how amazingly quiet it is, I had to put my ear right next to it to hear anything, even then. I so love that compared to my old refurb launch twice replaced unit. My Wii now makes more noise than either my PS3 Slim or my 360S.

The controller is pretty much the same, but somehow I felt it was slightly more accurate, it might be my imagination. There are few things I don't like, I'm using a USB stick for my gamer tag so I can use it between my two 360's the problem with the back USB ports is they are recessed so a slide out type USB stick won't fit the recess. A minor quibble as you can use the two front ports no problem. The other thing I don't like, the DVD tray beeps when you open and close it. No big deal I just don't like it.

Overall though this is a class a system and it is what it should have been from the beggining. I have not tried Wifi wireless N yet, I find wired connection is better in every case. But I will try and add to this review later on when I do try it. I can say as a gamer for many years, over 30. If your thinking about picking one of these up, do not hesitate. It's the best console for gaming no doubts in my mind. We will see on reliability in few years I guess. It seems pretty solid as of now.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Purchase Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I'm a self-admitted intermediate/casual level gamer. I like to play games that I like which at my age (nearly 29) is becoming fewer and fewer. Recently I picked up Red Dead and LOVE IT and also Tiger Woods and will get NCAA and Madden. Suffice it to say, outside of sports games, unless it's mature it doesn't really appeal to me for the most part. I used to own the Wii (it's now at my family's house) and the PS3. I recently sold my PS3 after being totally disenchanted with the system. The controller was not to my liking, I did not like the 'triggers' at the end and blu ray, while nice ( and I have a 1080P Sony TV) was not worth the extra cost. Plus, I am moving to reduce my had movie collection and just rent on NetFlix as it's cheaper and easier. So why get this system instead?

1) The Wifi being N level - super fast. Amazing.

2) Smaller, 45 nm Valhalla chip, great heatskink

3) The controller is more of a natural fit

4) Multiplats are usually programmed to this console and ported as most people know. Also multiplats are usually brighter and more vibrant on the 360.

5) Kinect is perfect for family, friends and relationships *smile*

6) XBox Live is FAR superior to PSN

7) Batteries - convenience. I don't have to wait for the controller to charge I can just take out put in and be ready in less than 1 minute.

Any drawbacks?

Well, perhaps a few.

1) The brick - admittedly it's smaller than the previous models of the 360 but it's still there.

2) Very new so we don't know what to expect for reliability down the line. I got it TODAY and was actually the first person to buy it at my local Best Buy - the guy literally just moved the last one onto the floor while I walked in.

3) The Show and Uncharted and Folklore - 3 games I will miss. However, that is all I will miss and ultimately that is not enough since I game about 10-15 hours a week and some of that includes PC.

Other than all of this I love the way this system feels, looks, runs and plays. I know I did the right thing and am happy that it will appeal to hardcore, intermediate, casual, men, women, old, young etc. The 360 is quickly becoming a multiple entertainment system and while the PS3 also has that to a degree... Blu Ray unless you have like a 50 inch tv is really not necessary (slow and only better up close on newer movies, older movies blu rayed are overrated and not ANY different from dvd in all honesty. Anyone who says otherwise is trying to sell you magic beans. Newer ones look great up close from a distance I don't see the value. )

Will I be having a huge gaming library? No, most likely only a handful of games. But from the controller to the wifi speed to the quality of the on-line to the netflix right down to the friendliness and happy feeling I get seeing my avatar dance up when I make a selection... it's well worth the price of admission. PS3 is a quality machine, around 4 / 5. So far I think the 360 250 elite is 4.8 / 5. If any changes occur I will amend this review but as of now I am happy to be gaming on a quality system!Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Buying Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

First I just want to state that this is a xbox 360 not a brand new console. Its pretty much the same speed and graphics of the originals, but it is the best one ever made! I have had mine for a few hours now and here is how it stakes up so far:

The good:

- Nearly silent when compared with the original 360. It sounds like a well engineered machine and not a rattly jet engine. Its a little quieter then my wii.

- Smaller with a sexier look. That includes the power brick, which is a little more than half the size of the original.

- Built in wireless N and its fast.

- Integrated optical audio.

- 5 usb ports.

- Internal, but easily accessible 250gb HDD on the bottom of the console.

- Uses half the power of the original.

- Works with most of the old accessories, including the transfer cable.

The bad:

- The new shiny look is a finger print magnet.

- The IR receiver is located lower on the console and appears to have a narrower field. So depending on setup using a remote maybe a headache.

- Only comes with standard def av cables.

The stuff I don't care about but worth mentioning:

- Does not use the old memory cards or hard drives.

- Touch sensitive buttons that when touch emit a soft tone.

- Kinect ready socket in the back.

All in all this is a great update to the 360 line, but since it isn't an all new console I would suggest that if you have a fairly new original 360 that is working fine to NOT get this console. However, if you have an old, worn out, and out of warranty 360 like me its worth a look!Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Cheap Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

The new 360 Elite solves a lot of the problems of the old one, It's a much quieter console, the power brick is much smaller, it's a smaller console, it has a 250GB hard drive and it has an N enabled wi-fi adaptor (the fastest on any console)

If you were on the fence about getting one before this model was announced you will most certainly be happy to know that this console improves upon the previous modelGet more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Cheapest Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I was an owner of the original XBox 360. I was in need of rent money so I ended up selling it. I've been waiting patiently for a year for MS to release a smaller, quieter machine. Let me tell you, the wait was worth it! The sleek finish is very nice. Although the pictures on the box and online show it upright, you can lay it on it's side, which is what I prefer to do. The power button is much like the PS3 phat, where you don't have to press it. You simply swipe your finger over it and presto! it turns on. There is one large fan located on the side of the 360 (top if it's laying on it's side). This fan is extremely quiet. Remember the jet engine sounds of the original 360s? They are no more! Now, I haven't had any of the other models of the 360, just the original, so I'm not sure if they reduced the sound in those models. All I know is my old 360 sounded like a turbine spinning up. THERE IS NO WINDING UP SOUND! I purchased Alan Wake and Mass Effect 2. I put Alan Wake into the drive and the only sound it made was a quiet "fan" sound. No case vibrating roar like the original. After watching the intro to the game, I went back to the XBox dashboard. There was no winding down sound, either. Just a very quiet sound as the drive stopped.

I highly recommend this item for those of you looking to replace your loud 360s or those looking for their first 360. Don't waste your money on the discounted previous models! The $50 extra you pay for this new version is definitely worth it!

*EDIT* 6/22/10
Don't listen to all the stories about red dots of death and overheating issues. The youtube video is sketchy at best. Did you hear the loud fan in the video? That's not the fan of the 360S model, it sounds like an older model. There's no proof that the 360 connected to the TV was the new model.

Yes, the 360S blows out hot air, it's supposed to! I've left mine on for over 10 hours, both playing games and idle. I placed my hand on the actual 360 unit in several places and the plastic remains room temperature. The heat is being moved out of the unit and not remaining trapped inside. If your 360 isn't blowing out hot air, you have a problem.

*EDIT* 6/24/10
Playing Alan Wake, I placed a thermometer over the air vent blowing out of the 360S model. I get a temperature reading of 119. I'm sure there are more intensive games that will push the 360 harder but 119 isn't bad at all.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Save Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I honestly think that this was the smartest thing i could have done. I utilized Gamestop and their upgrade program that they have running currently (found on their website) and upgraded to the new 250GB system. In reality i only invested around $100 and that was about the cost of a new wireless adapter. The console itself is whisper quiet compared to my previous Elite that sounded like a jet engine taking off every time it was powered on. The new touch sensitive buttons, piano black color, and angular design all add to the aesthetic appeal. I am excited that i have a new fresh system... red ring of death free... for now. I recommend that anyone look into upgrading if you have the money to do so.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Low Price Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

The Playstation 3 is a 2011 Ford Mustang Gt 5.0, the Xbox 360 a 2010 Chevy Camaro SS. The Mustang is a better car overall while the Camaro is an awsome excellent car and extreamly fast as well.

The reasons I like the Xbox 360 better is because my 360 has a 250gig hard drive while my PS3 has only 40. i know I can upgrade but this is my situation. The 360 can be loaded with your music, the visualizer is way better on the 360, and you can play your music loud or soft during any single game. With the PS3 you cannot do that.

The 360 can load downloads from Xbox Live while you are playing a game offline, the PS3 cannot.

Personally I think the exclusive titles are way better on the 360 than the exclusive titles on the PS3.

The 360 makes no noise at all, the shape is small and sexy, it makes cool new sounds when you open the disk trey and when you turn it on and off.

Now reason I enjoy the PS3 better, one word Blu-ray movies, and Blu-ray games. More on the PS3, third party games that come out on both systems always look better on the PS3 (not so with older titles). The online portion is free with the PS3 not $50.00 a year.

Im not a "Fanboy" of the PS3. Does that make me a ford Fanboy because the 5.0 can beat the SS in a race? lol No the graphics are better on the PS3 only by a little, I own several HD T.V's and i'd like to show them my appreciation by giving them Blu-ray Movies. So I lean 55% toward the 360 and 45% toward the 360. But if I could only have one console it would be the 360. Is that contradictory? No I, would not enjoy gaming without out Forza 3, or the Halo games. I cannot afford a Blu-Ray player and I wouldn want one with the pS3 that plays games ontop of that.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.
