Where To Buy Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

Pros: New glossy/slim design, more USB ports, Wireless N Ready, Kinect Ready and Touch Sensitive buttons.

Cons: Still generates a pretty good amount of heat which is why I keep mine horizontal and not vertical since the vents are now on the side.

Overall: I am very satisfied with the redesign of this console and spend more time on this one than I did with the previous version. A smart buy when you compare price-to-features.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Shop For Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I do a lot of network gaming and have about 6 Xbox 360's in my house, all under a year old. I've probably had about 20 Xbox 360's since the system released, mostly because I buy new ones as new chips release. About 5 of those twenty actually needed repair. I haven't had a broken system for awhile now so I figured MS must have fixed most of the issues. That was until I got the new Xbox 360 S. The system sure does look nice, is silent and the new features are quite welcomed. So needless to say I was quite happy with my new 360... for the 4 days it lasted.

I was playing a game, and got disconnected from Live but the Xbox was still running fine. Turned off and came back later to play again and saw the red dot. I know 100% of the systems won't be perfect, but with the number of complaints I've seen already, I'm wondering if MS hasn't gone right back to the problems that plagued the system since release.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Buy Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

My main complaint about the last system was the limited storage and the noise the system made even when I installed a game onto the hard drive. When watching a movie or playing a game when there is a silent scene, every experience is so much more enjoyable now with no fan noise in the background. The hard drive really justifies paying 300 to rebuy a system I already had. Its nice not to be deleting content everytime I download something new. System is awesome, I love it!! and when kinect comes out, I wont need to use another power socket on my power center.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Buying Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

First off, I would not like anybody here to accuse me of being a troll, because I've owned every single gaming console from the N64 generation to the 360 slim. I really hate it when people mark other's reviews as so.

My review:
After seeing all of the stuff about project natal going on, I thought "hmm.. I think its about time I should get a 360, same price, plus kinect". Seeing its new redesign, I was suspecting that the new 360 was better built. I was wrong. After opening the nicely packaged box when I got home and plugging it in, I could tell it was DOA, I was cursed with the RLOD (red light of death, the new design makes it so you cannot achieve the old red ring of death anymore). I'm not telling you to get a PS3 or Wii (my PS3 failed me 3 months after the warranty with the YLOD). I guess these days consoles are just bound to fail. Heck my old gameboy is still running, same with the N64. But then again, only about 30% of Xbox 360's fail on you. I still think you should try it out.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Cheapest Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I just received my new Slim 360 today. It's transfering my saved data from my last Xbox Jasper that I might add was not broke I just wanted this one. I'm just using an external USB drive to transfer, you do not need that transfer cable. Just being on 10 minutes I do feel a TON of heat being pumped out of side vent where the fan is(above the CPU)and thats understandable afterall the CPU is right under that fan. I had my TV on mute and there is zero noise coming from the 360.

As far as the gloss finish.. WOW I actually like it. It looks very classy as the gloss black and chrome as well as the shape makes it look awesome. New LCD TV's come in gloss black also so it just matches my TV perfectly. Just touch the vents only when you unpack it and to set it up as I have no finger prints on mine because I did it that way. Yes i'm picky that way.. lol.

So all in all in my opinion, they really did do alot to it. If I have any issues with the hardware in the future, I will update this. A+ so far.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Discount Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I am a PS3 owner but by no means a fan boy. The only thing that was keeping me from purchasing a Xbox 360 was the unreliability of the hardware. When this new console was announced I felt it was time to make the purchase. Built in wifi, quieter design, and a redesign that supposedly fixed the previous issues with the red ring of death, were all things that appealed to my sensibilities as a consumer. So far I have not been disappointed.

First off I am going to compare the Xbox 360 to the PS3 because it is my frame of reference. Simply put the Xbox is more user friendly. Load times so far on the Xbox have been much shorter than those on the PS3 (this could be because of the games I have been playing, which so far have only been a few on the Xbox, none of which are new releases). You don't have to use a disc to play Netflix, and the Netflix interface on the Xbox is much better than that on the PS3. Not only is it easier to use, but it just looks better. Xbox Live is also much better than the Playstation Network, and even though I had to pay for the premium service the price for a year is reasonable for the way multi player works seamlessly and again it just looks better. Sorry, I like things that are functional and look pretty. It is also reasonably priced I think I paid $37 bucks for 12 months of Xbox Live ($3.08 a month, big deal). I also like the Xbox controller, I find it very comfortable to use, and to me it is more comfortable that the PS3 Controller. As far as graphics go between the PS3 and Xbox the difference is negligible, and I really don't think anyone could tell the difference unless they had the two consoles on two identical TVs side by side. One thing the PS3 does have going for it is that going through the exclusive games for that console compared to the 360, I have much more interest in the PS3 exclusives (which has nothing to do with console performance and really only speaks to my preference of games).

Now onto the Xbox 360 itself and the supposed new features. First off, the set up was a breeze, everything so far has worked right out of the box. Built in wireless set up very easily and detected my network right away. Also I have never been disconnected while playing or experienced any lag on screen. It seems to be quiet at least as quiet as the PS3 (I can't compare it to the old model Xbox as I have no frame of reference). You can still hear it sometimes but I think to expect to not hear anything coming from a device that has moving parts is ridiculous. Bottom line is that when I am in game it does not distract me which is the main issue. There is some heat coming off of it, but mine is not so hot where it worries me. I also have not had the issue of the console turning off when it gets too hot as some people have reported, although I think the most I usually play at a time is only a couple of hours compared to some who play for extended periods of time. I also have not had any issue with the system scratching discs. If you don't move the console with a disc in it you won't have a problem. Even if the system will be off, if I move it I will take the disc out as that what it says on the front of the console. I was also surprised at how easy it was to hook up the mic. Voice chat worked very well without having to do anything, I plugged it in and was chatting with my friends playing L4D. There was some feedback at first when using the mic but it went away and I haven't experienced it sense. I am very impressed with what is included in the box for the Xbox, they pretty much give you everything you need minus a game and HDMI cable, but the price of this product at $300 with a larger HDD and built in wireless seemed like a very good deal, and HDMI cables on amazon are cheap, as are many of the older games that I will start out playing. I also hooked up my 5.1 surround sound headset to the optical output and they worked right away without having to change any settings which was very surprising.

The one thing I cannot attest to with this hardware is its reliability. People have been saying they have been having issues with the hardware failing, but with any new hardware there will be a few lemons in the bunch. I also have only had the hardware for a week so it is very possible something could go wrong and I will be revising my review. I would recommend buying an extended warranty with this product. Apparently the new Xbox only has a 1 year warranty whereas the older version was covered for 3 years for the issues it has had (RROD). Also this is the first iteration of this product so I feel it is better to be safe than sorry, just in case this hardware has its own issues. Lets face it the Xbox 360 has been around for 5 years now and they were still having issues with the last generation, so do yourself a favor and protect your investment.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Lowest Price Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

This was my second Xbox 360 purchase. I bought an Elite three years ago from Amazon.com and had an amazing time playing it. I saw the Microsoft E3 press show, and had to have this new Xbox 360 Elite S. My current Xbox 360 is still running fine, but the improvements had me jumping for joy due to just the amount of time I play the system.

Thus far the system runs perfect. I keep the system horizontal to vent the heat better from the nicely placed side vent. The redesign shows Microsoft put some real thought into the issues that plagued past systems. The heat is now directly vented from the heat sink, instead of using a tube to push it to the back of the system to be vented. This new design uses one big fan, instead of two smaller ones. This single fan is surrounded with foam to help stop vibrations and stopping pretty much all the sound the fan makes, to make for a whisper quiet fan. The newly designed chipset doesn't get as hot or take as much power as past chipsets either. I remember having my older Elite on, and after hours of play the room temperature would literally be 10 degrees hotter. With this new system, the room temperature doesn't change at all now.

The new DVD drive is pretty quiet compared with the older drive. You can still hear the disc spinning when the game isn't installed onto the hard drive, but it's not nearly as loud as it used to be. With the game installed onto the hard drive, the system is nearly silent.

It now has touch sensitive buttons, which are a great cosmetic touch. It has a nice shiny finish that does attractive dust and is a finger print magnet, but still a nice improvement. The new Wi-Fi card is what so many people have been waiting for. It didn't really matter to me, as I have a router like less than two feet away from the system, but this is a BIG selling point for so many people and a nice improvement over having to put out another fee. The wireless card supports pretty much everything up to 802.11n.

The system no longer has memory card slots, but has had two additional USB ports added, for a total of five, which is a better option now that it supports flash drives.

The system is ready for Kenect, but I really could care less about it. It has one port on the back for the kenect camera system. So all you have to do is plug it into that, and you're ready to play. Other people may enjoy that more than me.

On some side notes, the new 360 doesn't support your old 360 hard drive. I transferred everything over with a flash drive. You can buy a transfer cable, but I would just use a flash drive or external hard drive. The system comes with a one year warranty and isn't supported by the three year RRoD warranty Microsoft gave to older systems. You can call Microsoft and extended it, but as long as you take care of it, I wouldn't recommend it, but that's up to you. Just keep it well ventilated and away from other heat sources. Also, DON'T move the system while playing it, as this can lead to the disc being scratched. If the game is installed though, the disc doesn't spin, so this is another reason to install games. I've never perosnally had this ever happen, but from my understanding it can.

Overall, if you don't have an Xbox 360 and are in the market for one, this is the must have SKU. If you do have one, it's really not necessary unless you really have some issue with your current system, or just really want this (like I did). It has a massive 250GB hard drive, built in Wi-Fi, 5 USB ports, Ethernet port, HDMI port, composite/component port, digital optical output, and Kenect ready port, all built into the system. It's here today and really is ready for tomorrow.

A final note about Amazon.com; they dropped the ball on me again, like they did before with skipping over me when I ordered my Elite three years ago. If you want your system faster, either get it another place or pay for shipping. If you don't care, get the free shipping from Amazon. If this is like a year or whatever from the release date, you have nothing to worry about.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Right now

I love my new xbox 360! It's my first xbox. My brother has one and i always got yelled at for playing it. So, i got one. The new one. They clam it's whisper quiet (but i guess that is for the fan) but if you're playing a game, it's not quiet. It's fast and slim. I love getting up and just touching the power button because you just got to touch it and it turns on or off. My brother is jelous and so are my friends. But there really is not difference from the other xboxs other than the outside and hard drive. Oh, and everywhere i checked, this is acully cheaper than most other xboxs. Because if you think about it, you dont need the $60 wireless adapter, you dont need to buy that extra peice for when Kinect comes out. And I recomend the bundle for the xbox and the 12 months of gold member og live. Love it and i never will give it up :-)Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Decide Now

I've worked in retail gaming for about 2 years now and again, Microsoft has let us down. You couldn't have given me an "old" 360. You couldn't give me a new slim 360!! We've had several phone calls about them running very hot and the fan accelerating to the highest setting very prematurely. They still put those rings on the bottom of disks too!! I am not a PS3 fanboy. I have a Wii, and an old regular x-box that works like a charm. Just don't waste your money on a 360!!!!Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Order Now

I picked the new Xbox 360 250GB up from Amazon. I recieved it super fast in less than 3 days. I see no difference in the game play of this system from the old. The only thing thats not old is the Memory and the WiFi built in. It runs smooth with little noise and loads to me faster than the old. If you have a 360 like I did and want the new one then go get it. Do not listen to the others who put a system down just because its not got bluray. The Black Gloss color does show finger prints but whats not black gloss that dont? I think MS did a really great job on the system but it should of been released 2 yrs ago.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Get it now!

So this is the first Xbox 360 I have ever owned. I received the unit on Monday and as far as I can tell there have been no problems with the hardware of this system, hopefully none later on. One of the things I noticed is that while not playing any disc-based games, the system runs fairly quiet, however, it is considerably more noisy when playing disc-based games then I imagined when Microsoft said it was "whisper" quiet. The built-in wireless works very well. Even with a wireless g connection it seems to be able to connect better than my ps3 (ps3 gets about 25% without a wireless extender, xbox 360 seems to get around 50%). Note that my systems are very far away from my router and goes through many walls. I believe with a wireless n connection the connection would be superb anywhere within any house. The only thing that bothers me is that it seems that it takes a longer time to load games on Xbox 360 than on ps3, however once loaded the games run just the same. This problem can probably be fixed with installing the game on the hard drive, and with 250gb, there should be plenty of space. Overall I am very pleased with this system and would highly recommend it if you do not already own a newer model of the elite. If you have an older model, i would trade it in to Gamestop and pick up this model. If you already own a newer model of the elite or arcade with the newer chip-set, i would just stick with that.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Buy Now

So I bought the 120GB Elite at the end of May (I know, I should have waited right?). Then I saw that this console was coming out at the exact same price with more than double the memory and all the other additions, so I bought this one despite just getting the 120GB Elite. I am very happy with my decision, as this is still the beginning of my XBox experience and I wanted the best when I started! Plus, the N wireless was a huge improvement over hanging the ethernet cord across my living room to get to my XBox.
Now if you are happy with the console you already have you don't have to get this, but I'm ahppy I did (and now I just gotta somehow sell the first one haha!)Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Best Quality

So far, I am impressed with the new Xbox 360 slim (Valhalla). It is $100 cheaper than the original 360. Bought from [...].

Pros
(1)It is very quiet
(2)The built-in Wireless adapter works just like the $100 external adapter.
(3)It has larger vents

Con(s)-(so far)
(1)the touch sensitive buttons are too easy to press.

I read all of the "1 star" reviews, and believe many of the complaints are overblown and/or because of misuse. Make sure it is in an open space so it does not overheat. I read a review claiming that the Slim turned off by itself. I have left the Slim on for 3 hours now and nothing has gone wrong-except for accidental button pressing. Also, make sure you are using the smaller, black, power brick. I read one reviewer who claimed that the power brick that came with their 360 Slim was the same as the original Xbox 360. I read the Slim brick ("103 watts") and the Original brick ("203 watts") and there is a 100 watt difference. Using the wrong brick may result in a red light (power failure) and a forced shutdown.

I will update this later on.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console This instant

I had a decision of buying this one or the spring elite bundle

First of all this is 50 dollars more than the spring elite bundle and it has nothing, while the spring elite bundle is 50 dollars less and it comes with 2 great games.

Second of all the 250 gb is way to much for me so there is no point of getting the slim for that reason.

Third of all I don't really care that its whisper quiet because a little humming wont bother me.

Fourth of all I have no need for the wifi built in because I have 2 computer and a laptop, which means I connect with wires or I can connect wireless.

Fifth of all the new elite problem of RROD has been fixed in the newer versions of the elite. there are already reports of the slim having the RDOD which the red doth of death.

Basically the only pro that this thing has is its new design and i don't care for it much.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

First of all, I really like the Xbox. I think it delivers a lot of value across the entertainment spectrum.

I purchased the 360 S to replace an Elite that was in my game room (moving the Elite downstairs to replace an Arcade).

Unboxing the unit was uneventful: The Xbox itself was packaged very neatly with button-taped wrapping instead of just a plastic bag. A black wireless controller (chromed Xbox orb in the middle), a somewhat smaller power brick, and a standard video cable were also included. I was a little surprised that there was no HDMI cable: It was a nice addition to the old Elite package.

For those who enjoy picking up their Xbox and moving it around there is a nice warning label on the front instructing you to remove any discs from the unit before doing so. Honestly, I have never for the life of me understood why people felt the need to move the console around, and then complain about scratched discs. For me, playing Xbox does not include tossing the console around. But, to each his own.

Setting up the console was simple, just like every other Xbox. I used the transfer cable to move all the junks from the Elite and it performed fine. Not very exciting. I haven't yet attempted the license transfer: It's not a pressing issue since I'm always signed into Live anyway.

The size of the 360 S is a bit smaller than the Elite physically, but it "feels" a lot smaller. I don't know why but it just looks a lot smaller sitting in the same spot as the old Elite than it actually is. Probably a nice visual effect from the new shiny finish and the venting slots and angles. I have it laying down with the new side vent up. You really do feel the heat from this vent that is being dissipated from inside the console. Obviously it would be a bad idea to block it.

While I have read that the unit is only a few decibels more quiet than the orginal, I have to say those few are very noticeable in the real world. I popped in Alan Wake and gave that a go and never heard the console at all. Even while not playing it's very quiet. If I get right up to it I can hear some whirring noise but from a distance I hear nothing. I had little issue with the console noise before, so it's all good with the S. The most noticeable thing that is gone is the DVD drive noise. I hated the sound as the laser head searched over and over on the old console.

As for lack of Blu-Ray: Why would Microsoft add it now? Any game that would be published on Blu-Ray would not be playable on the existing huge Xbox installed base. That, to me, would be an incredibly stupid move and would anger a lot of existing owners. I have my Netflix going and have recently been renting the HD movies off of the Zune service: I have to say the instant on HD streaming is pretty incredible.

The console does have built-in wireless N now. I don't have need for that, so no review on it. The console also adds the optical audio port directly on the console for those who utilize that. The S also has dedicated port for the Kinect, as well as additional USB ports on the back of the unit.

My only gripes are the lack of HDMI cable and the wireless controller did not have a rechargeable battery with it. It was a great gaming console before the refresh, even better after.

UPDATE:
So after playing much more, varied games I can say that I do hear the fan cycle sometimes. I don't find it much louder than the original Xbox. I certainly don't notice any performance changes or any other issues when this happens.

After reading some other posts about adding older wireless controllers I thought I would try adding all of mine: No issues. They synced right up after pressing the button.

Still pleased with the purchase :)Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Review

First i'd like to say that at first I was quite happy with my purchase. The redesign is what the Xbox should have been and I don't say that lightly. I noticed that it's whisper quiet even with a disk running. The little chime sounds it makes when turning on/opening the drive bay is quite nice. Pleasantries aside, I did however face something that ruined the entire experience. Not even 24 hours after receiving my Xbox, the system shut itself off during a game and the power brick showed a red light. I did everything that Microsoft recommended with no success. The xbox would simply not turn on. I was assured that the problem was the power brick and not the console itself. I'm returning it and buying one from another store in the hopes that I won't get a "bad" one. I have seen only a handful of similar cases online so perhaps this is an isolated incident.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

I love my new xbox360! Its super quiet, even after hours of playing. People complain about the fingerprint issue but how often are you manhandling your xbox? I think its beautiful. Shop For Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

Like many people I had a launch 360 quit on me last year and I waited for this to replace it, and I'm glad I did. Now I'm no MS fan, I absolutely hate windows to death and never use it unless I have no other option, I use OSX or Centos or Ubuntu for everything but games that are exclusive to windows. But I really do love my new 360

pros -

*After a game is installed it makes little to no noise, "whisper quiet" is an understatement. I can't speak for how noisy it is if a game is not installed, I haven't tried it. It runs so quiet I thought the fan might not be working properly but I've played it for several hours without a brake with no problems.

*Does not produce a lot of heat. My IMac makes my room feel like a sauna but the 360 feels like it's running at room temperature everywhere on it but the air vent on the side, and even there it feels only a little warm.

*Sexy, the glossy black looks pretty sweet.

*Touch buttons are actually pretty nice and work very well.

*Large HDD, I like being able to install every game I own without having to manage the memory.

*Smaller form factor and feels a lot more sturdy than my old Pro model.

*Wireless N. I will never game wirelessly on any system or computer, it's just too unreliable, but for streaming movies this will come in handy as I can bring it into the living room and my family can enjoy some netflix HD movies with no wired internet connection. If given the choice though, I'd rather have $50 off the price and no wireless, oh well though, hopefully I can get my monies worth with movie streaming.

Cons -

*Hard drive is not easily accessible. Not like it's a big deal but it's located at the bottom of the machine and requires that you tip it over to access. This really isn't a big deal though, and will probably only be an issue for just a couple of people maybe once during their time with the machine. Hard drives are also still not standardized, it would be nice if I could just pop in a regular hard drive like you can with the PS3.

*The machine is noticeably smaller in person, but I still feel like it could be smaller, again not a big deal but I feel it could have been made more "slim."

*Everything software wise still sucks, accounts were and are a terrible idea, I'd like to have unlockables, achievements and saves transcend accounts. It would have been nice if they could have done a software update to go along with the new console.

*No transfer cable. Why you can't just connect two machines with an ethernet cable and transfer stuff is beyond me.

*Still can't move it while it's spinning a disk, I realize you can't just throw it around and shake it, but it would be nice if we could gently move it from vertical to horizontal without it scratching disks.

*Downloadable full games are soooo expensive. Often times they are more expensive than buying a physical copy of the game, and at best they are the same price. It doesn't make sense.

OVERALL

The pros make it infinitely better than my original console, and the cons are so minor, they are for the most part a non-issue. I still hate MS software but with this hardware update it seems to be a home run.

The thing I wish most though is that we could instal a full OS on there, even if it were Windows 7. It would be freaking sweet to use it to play PC games as well.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Order Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

Bogus product, the older Xbox controllers won't sync with the "slim". Pushed the sync button on controller and the wireless button on from of console but no sync takes place for original controller. New controller worked - looks like they boned players again to spend $$$$$ to get the newer controllers to get to work on the "slim".Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Cheap Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

Bought elsewhere; arrived a lemon. Unbelievable. And I had bought this to replace my 360, which died on the same day as my Zune. Come on, Microsoft! I don't think I'm going to keep a 360 around after all. The reliability of this new model is unproven, and it's not fair for Microsoft to raise the price on it.

Buying Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I've owned the Xbox 360 since its release along with the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3. I'm on my 3rd unit, the first was not covered under warranty and the second was covered when Microsoft extended the warranty to 3 years after fear of a lawsuit due to their large failure rates. It was my favorite system but now that Bungee can make game for any console and Sony's picking up steam, I find I use my PS3 much more nowadays.

Pros:

- The controllers are nice
- Some great Xbox 360 exclusive titles (i.e. Halo and Gears of War)
- Xbox live has a clean layout and runs well
- Cosmetically not a bad looking system

Cons:

- No wi-fi built into the (elite) systems or blu-ray capability
- Price: given the above it should be cheaper
- Xbox Live uses a carnie style system in terms of purchasing credits for games and downloads
- Xbox Live is not free like the PS3
- Reliability: once again these systems break...a lot. And I play video games 5 hours a week tops

So overall the Xbox 360 console is fun but unless you love first person shooters or play people online more often than not, I'd stick with the PS3 unless you can afford both systems.

Cheapest Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

Microsoft added the function to directly connect to Kinect "Natal" and gave the system wifi built in. Well that's fine and all, but it has a major issue for hardcore gamers since they were not able to fix the red ring of death. This system will automatically shut off when it gets too hot. So if you play games like Dynasty Warriors or Ninety Nine Nights in which missions can take more than a single hour to complete, you have to restart the mission. I have a 360 and recommend getting an older model even with the chance of getting the red ring of death. At this point if you buy one and it's ready to expire the next console will be out. If you want a 250 GB you can buy it seperately. I have gone through mutliple 360s so I know it has problems that need to fixed, but this version is really just taking the easy way out which hints they are giving up on the console.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Save Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I upgraded from my old elite to this new slim one. It's now even smaller than my PS3 Slim! I'm very happy that I can play my games quietly. I enjoyed the bigger harddrive and how it's internal now. Built in wi-fi makes it easier to get online super fast. The sleek design is very cool as well. On the other hand, I had to wear my cotton gloves to take the console out of its packaging so I won't get any finger prints or smudges on it. Yes, the console atrracts too many finger prints. Also, the heat from the system is kind of hot. But, it did not affect the gameplay so far. Great system and everyone should get for its design and the new improvements!Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

THis is the 3rd XBOX 360 console I have owned. I immediately started having wireless controller issues. I tried several controllers and several battery packs. Low Price Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

- So long story short i ordered this the second the news hit. slated to ship 18th and ended up getting it the 23rd.. not so bad but when it said "estimated delivery 18th" and it wasn't even shipped in till the next day. so i was a little iffy when i would ever see it at my door.

- On to the facts, this is just about the same size...no really it is. just think of a arcade without the faceplate and you are set because the HDD is internal.

- 2) Heat is an issue (yes i know its suppose to blow hot air out). the issue i have is the vent. WHY ON EARTH would M$ put the heat vent on the bottom! you can't stand it up like the old ones or the heat isn't going anywhere. it just blows onto the table and than sucked backed into the 360. way to go, aren't guys smart, heat will rise so why isn't the chip at the top right corner? who knows but once i lay it back down my super heated 360 is back to running like it's not even on.

-3) I don't care about this but it came with a huge scratch down the left side (happens to be what you see laying down). like i said its cheap plastic, i could care less.

-4) The noise. yes the CPU fan is dead quite now but they still didn't fix the dvd drive sounding like its going to space. easy fix is to install all the games, otherwise whats the point of the new 360 and the 250gb HDD.

-5) the headset port on the new controller is broken. if i turn it just right it can hear people speaking but its really low. everyone i speak to tells me they hears static like i'm blowing on the mic. it works fine on my other controller that i had for 2 years now. once again go M$ for making lameness.

In short if you own a 360 from the last year MFG 2009 and on. DO NOT BUY THESE NEW ONES! go get yourself a cheap 120gb HDD you Arcade people or elite people just stick to what you have. The only reason i switched was before i got $200 for my Elite and 250gb HDD are about $70, no braining go buy the newest console for $30 more.

Lowest Price Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I have owned the original launch premium console, the old 120gb elite and now this. If you have a black elite 120gb already then this is not worth the upgrade. I haven't owned a 360 in two years so this was perfect for me and would be for anyone else who hasn't bought one yet or is upgrading from a launch system.

The first thing I noticed was that the system doesn't get nearly as hot as the old systems do. At most I've felt it get really warm in one small spot by the fan and that's it. The fan is really quiet too (about as quiet as the PS3 slim) but this is somewhat offset by the disc drive. Larger games (ex. Forza 3) make a lot of noise at times. The power brick is also smaller and runs cooler.

It gets 4 stars because the customer support is the worst I've ever had to deal with. I've had better luck with Acer support (anyone whos had dealings with them will know what I'm talking about) They're general lack of knowledge of the system their supposed to know inside and out amazes me.

Overall, with a 250gb hard drive, built in wifi b/g/n and much better heat management (not to mention the cool design), all for the same $299 price, this is a great deal.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Order Now

RROD crushed my original 20G console the Sunday before the E3 release of this new console. I waited around a whole week for this puppy to come out. So far I'm giving it 4 stars overall because it is yet to be seen if this new model's updates will have the same failure rate as the old ones. Seems almost impossible though because the vents are fantastic, the console stays a lot cooler (old console use to heat my room to the point that I'd start sweating), and also the chip and fan updates. I really hope this one lasts because I know I can go dig out my N64 or SNES and play any of those games any time I want. Why don't they make things like they used too?!Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Right now

Got the new console yesterday and played Gears of War 2 for about 10 hours. The room temperature is about 90F. The console is warm but not hot. Could not hear the fan noise at all unless I turn off the speakers.

Very sexy looking. Strongly recommended. BTW, I also have a PS3 (not the slim version). I think it the xbox slim is as good as the PS3.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Get it now!

After spending about 2 hours transferring data and installing games to my brand new Xbox 360 S, it displayed a red light and the system shut off. Ok, maybe it overheated. After about 10 minutes, I tried turning it on and the only response was the little "bing" noise- no lights or any other sounds. An hour later, only a solid red light comes on when I try to turn it on. Unplugging everything, removing the hard drive as xbox support suggests, same results. Red dot of death is definitely not a joke. I pre-ordered this item and was really looking forward to using it. Now I either have to wait for a replacement from Amazon (July 13), or send it to Microsoft and wait at least 3 weeks for them to fix it. I am so upset and disappointed.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Buy Now

So, my stars... ignore them. I have yet to receive my console and you better believe me when I say I will shop cautiously from Amazon from this day forward. I ordered my console on the 16th... they claimed to have four in stock. Excellent, right? Not so much... my console has been sitting in a wear house, ready to ship for DAYS. I contacted Amazon about why it hadn't shipped yet, their response was less than appealing. "Because you used the free saver shipping, we reserve the right to take up to 5 days of proccessing and it appears yours is doing just that." Me: "But what is the point of holding it for that long? It doesn't save you any money by with holding a product that is ready to be shipped..." Them: "Don't worry sir, we see you are upset and since its in the wearhouse already it'll deffinately be out by the estimated ship day of the 23rd. WHAT THE HECK? No where did it say that, and to add insult to injury its the 24th and they just PROCCESSED it to be picked up, hasn't even left yet! I called again today and got the same story of 'oh I don't know why it didn't ship yet.' I informed her I would weigh this with any future amazon purchases, I've spent thousand and thousands of dollars on amazon, and have been an amazon prime member forever and I just recently cancled it so I understand what people who don't give them 79.99/yr for expedited shipping has to deal with now. I order from NewEgg monthly, free shipping when to my avail and I pay when not... and never ONCE did I ever have an issue like this... 9 days in a wearhouse (7 excluding non business) and its not even out yet. I am currently disgusted with a multi billion dollar company who sits on parcells for which they claim is 'cheaper' for them to do... support local stores guys, I would of had this already.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Immediately

The console is acutully whisper quiet even when reading game discs.
setup was very easy just like the original xbox 360 console and with the built in wifi, it works better than the adapter dongle. (no need to unplug and plug just to have it working again.) i noticed when pressing the eject button, the console makes a "bing" sound. A not too useful feature but nice to have. although the slim contains over 5 usb inputs, I would be satisfied with just two since i may not need additon thumbstick drives for game saves, etc. (250gb HDD)

Despite the bells and whistles, my only caveat would be that the top of the console gets hot pretty quick just like the PS3 Slim.
So it's important to make sure that the X Slim is placed in a very ventilated area meaning NO A/V Cabinets. And hopefully MS will provide an update to rip videos to the HHD as the Bookmark feature can continue where you left off.(Most DVD/Blu Ray players lack this feature.) other than that, it's worth the upgrade just for the built in wifi alone.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Best Quality

Okay design wise it's good the vents and fan are improved and quieter, the wifi is nice, but what the hell were they thinking making it all black and shiny like the damn dust magnet ps3. this is a perfect example of form over function, the thing is already getting dusty. It is a dust and smudge magnet. I have never dusted my old 360 one time, because I NEVER HAD TO, my PS3 though which I HATE is just a big fat dusty blue ray player. This is a nice improvement but still they should have left the finish the old way, YES it looks nice of course shiny black looks nice, but honestly did anyone even stop to think about how dusty and gross it's gonna get in just a few weeks.

Okay that aside I am not a fan of the touch buttons it is too easy to accidently turn off the console when playing, it should at least have been set up to turn of with a long touch ie touch and hold, i like that it is a sensitive touch button but seriously if you even graze that thig while someone is playing the console will turn off. also I would have liked to see the side vents on both sides. not just on top. lastly this console came with WHAT YOU ASK ? A damned red yellow white connector. I mean seriously not even hmdi well it not that big a deal but still.

Overall I give it a four out of five for effort.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Well this new xbox 360 with 250gbh is great it has a built in wifi so you dont have to worry about buying an xbox 360 adapter that cost $100 dollars more the it also has three vents one on top and one on the bottom and one on the side the side one is pretty big so you dont have to worri about your xbox over heating the great thing i like about this product is that it is very silent you dont have to worri about hearing that loud noise it is a great buy and the controller has a glossy finish under the controller and on top of the controller it also has a crome botton in the middle it also has more ports on the back of the xbox the only thing i must say is that if you already own and xbox 360 dont buy this just yet unless you like the style of it and the new features it has then i say go for it.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Review

I just received my new 360 "Slim" today and so far I have been VERY impressed with the changes to the hardware. I really like the new soft touch buttons and the nice little "CHIME" each makes when you activate it. A single chime sounds to open or close the disc tray, and a multi tone chime sounds when you turn the machine on or off. The DVD drive is fast to open and seems to read the game discs a tad faster than my 360 PRO which this unit is replacing. The IR port provides the same range of control for remotes as the original design, so contrary to what some people were speculating, the IR port integration on the front of this new machine has no effect on IR range or performance that I can detect. I really like the dedicated SPDIF socket for my optical digital audio cable! I never liked the funky way it had to attach to the AV cable on the original system. Although I am using a wired eithernet connection for my network connection, I am pleased that there is now a built in "N" WI-FI system onboard.

The reduced size of the console is also a welcome change, along with the sleek new ALL BLACK chassis design. The new all black controller is also nice looking but feels basically the same as previous S style controllers I already own.

Migrating my data over from my previous 360 was fast and easy using a SanDisc 16GB USB flash drive which I purchased here as well. Took about 5 minutes to make the transfer from the flash drive to the S, but I still had to manually configure my internet settings to use the same static IP address my previous machine used. I was surprised that these settings were not automatically updated on the new machine when I transferred my profile. Not a big deal, but I was a little surprised by that.

Game play and overall performance is identical to my 360 Pro. I see no difference in software performance other than the DVD drive speed I mentioned above.

I do notice that there is a lot more heat coming out of the top fan port than I recall with my 360 Pro's exhaust ports, but this could simply be related to the fact that there are two exhaust fans on the older model which vent out of TWO locations on the back instead of just one large exhaust fan and port on the top of the S model. I will trust that I do not encounter any heat related issues with this machine due to the smaller chassis. I have never had any heat related issues with my other 360 consoles.

Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend this new machine to anyone looking to upgrade their older 360, or considering the purchase of a 360 for the first time. This new machine only helps to demonstrate that the XBOX 360 system along with XBOX LIVE is hands down the best choice for HD gaming to date.

I should mention that I also own a PS3 Slim console but find that the SONY online network does not compare in features or performance to the 360 with XBOX LIVE. I use my PS3 console primarily as a Blu-Ray DVD player which it excels at in my opinion.

Anyone trying to decide between which of these two HD gaming systems to buy should definitely test drive both systems ONLINE before buying. The difference in the online experience is night and day.

UPDATE: 7/2/10

I just completed an extended run of my new Slim console having let the machine run continuously without turning it off for a total of 165 hours. I am pleased to report that I did not see any of the heat related issues I have seen reported in the handful of 1 and 2 star reviews. The power brick remained slightly warm to the touch and the cooling fan never came on once. The machine itself remained cool to the touch in all areas except at the heat exhaust port on the top of the console. The cooling fan on this vent varied in speed over time and based on what I was doing with the console. The game discs themselves remained only slightly warm after extended gaming sessions.

All in all I remain very pleased with this new design. The improved cooling system is doing its job and the console has shown no signs of difficulty performing any of the tasks I have asked it to do. This ranged from playing single player games, online games, streaming NetFlix video content and watching free videos off of the LIVE marketplace.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console Top Quality

I ordered the 360 slim to upgrade/replace the 360 Elite in my living room and I have been very please with the product. I upgraded for the additional hard drive space (I download a lot of Rock Band songs and game add on's), plus the reduced noise (I have the external HD-DVD drive still). The transfer kit worked like a charm (I purchased that directly from Microsoft, after reading some on line reviews of the problems with 3rd party kits not working correctly), and within about 35 minutes the transfer from the old hard drive to the new hard drive was completed. It is a very quiet machine, and I do appreciate the additional usb ports in the machine for the rock band mics that I use for parties.

The only issue I had was with my gamer tag. Because I don't really chat on line, i never signed into my Window's live messanger account, and apparently it expired, and the gamer tag is tied to the window messanger and not my email account. After a couple failed attempts on my own on line to fix this problem, I called the Microsoft customer service and after talking to a manager (the first rep didn't know how to fix this, and I greatly appreciate her not wasting my time trying to figure it out on her own, she sent me straight to someonw who did know how to resolve the problem), i was able to transfer over my gamer tag (with the achievement points and more importantly the remaining xbox live points and time left on my yearly membership) to the new 360.

I do have a PS3 that I use mainly as a blu-ray player as I much prefer the xbox gaming system.

I am very pleased with this machine, and am seriously considering upgrading the 360 Elite that I have in the bed room as well.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

AWESOME!!!!, this is the best 360 to date. It has everything you ever wanted or need, well besides a blu-ray player. Other than that it's great. It's the 360 you have been waiting for.
Pros:
Quiet not "whisper quiet" but it's pretty darn stealthy
Faster load times.
Touch sensitive buttons
250 GB HDD
KInect Port on back.
Audio optical out
Much smaller when you see it in person.

Cons:
Piano Gloss attracts fingerprints like nothing else, keep a polishing cloth handy.

It replaces my Launch 360 and this is defiantly a great improvement over the older 360s!!!!Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Where To Buy Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I've given the XBOX three stars for the simple reason that it took them too long to do this. I've had two broken consoles, scratched discs and wasted money on various other products (2 wifi adapters, HD DVD drive and a bunch of microphones made from twigs and berries I believe). The new Xbox is great! It's very quiet, integrated wifi and it looks pretty. But they've been screwing me with inferior hardware since the original Xbox 360 release, so I don't know that this makes up for it. I think that they should have set up a program where you could trade in a wifi adapter, HD drive and a bricked Xbox for a new console to make up for all the pain they've caused. A three year warranty where they waited 2 months to send me a "new" Xbox (old one repaired with duct tape I think), wasn't good enough for me.

At least GameStop has a pretty good deal going on; that's the only reason I bought a new console. They took both my old 360s (I have two because they waited to put HDMI and the 65nm processor until later and my older one scratched disks sometimes), and both my wifi adapters (G and N upgrade), and some games which gave me enough credit to get the new Xbox and two new games.

I'm glad GameStop helped me out with this; otherwise I'd be even more frustrated with Microsoft. They put out a shiny new piece of hardware with all the problems fixed and left me stranded with two inferior boxes and old wifi adapters. It's hard to justify buying a new Xbox when you've wasted so much money on failed equipment in the past.

Funny how they can sell me a smaller console with a 250GB harddrive and integrated N wireless at 299 when they charged me 100 bucks for my wireless adapter 4 months ago.

I love Xbox and I prefer it to other consoles, but I"m sick of Microsoft screwing me over all the time. Between Windows Vista and all the failed Xbox hardware, I've had it. I'd switch to PS3 solely if the controller and live service was as good for me.

If my new Xbox fails, I'm going to have a stroke!

I know a lot of you will complain that it's not fair to give this three stars if it's a good product, but I would argue that it's fair to incorporate total costs and pain from other releases of the same product. This Xbox is basically what Xbox should have been 4 years ago and they've made me buy it three times, so I can't help but let that play into the review. This is not the Xbox 720, so I don't think it deserves a clean slate product review. If you bought a DVD and it wouldn't play, so you bought another copy and it wouldn't play and then they put it in a new package and you bought it, and it worked great, would you give it 5 stars?Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.

Buy Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console

I received my Xbox 360 Slim 250GB console that I ordered on Amazon on June 16th today via FedEx. From what I can see it is smaller than the previous 360 body/casing, has one major fan on the "top" (sitting horizontally), and has a very nice, glossy black finish. I was confused at first where the new HDD is located, but it is on the side under one of the vent looking structures. It comes out very easy. I haven't attempted to play it yet as I am waiting for the tranfer cable I ordered to come in. This more than doubles my HDD, so I'll be able to store many more games to it, making the disc wear and tear nearly non-existent. By the way, I've never had a disc scratched by my old 360 except when I accidently tripped on my cord controller. The 360 doesn't scratch disc - this only happens if you happen to be clumsy enough (like I was) or thick-skulled enough to move your console while a disc in in play. A warning sticker-label ever comes on the Xbox 360 S that says not to move the console while a disc is inside it. I'm sure it will work like a charm. The included wireless is pretty cool, I was good on Microsoft to catch up to the norm (and the Wii) in that respect. I spent too much money on the wireless adapters in the past. It also has all standard ports and 5 USB ports, so you can have up to an EXTRA 80GB (for 330GB total) storage for your Xbox 360 S console. I can't wait to have a quiet Xbox to play on!
I decided to keep my old Xbox 360 Pro to use as a backup and as a DVD player in the main room. I've had it for a year and a half and it works fine still. Be sure to keep your Xbox 360 console in a well-ventilated area.

Be aware that there is another, $199 Xbox 360 Slim coming out this fall. Not many details have come out on it yet, but it may be an entry-level product and will probably have a smaller HDD.Get more detail about Xbox 360 250GB Elite Console.
